It’s basically the cheapest bluetooth-capable thing I could find that didn’t look like a l33t gamer bro’s RGB wet dream.

You should try best buy for 10-30 bucks more you can get her a JVC or Sony. I think the boss really last like 5 months, and then you're back to square one.

I don’t see how you’ll get along without a CD player...

Here is my route to the nearest best buy. Note: The ferry ticket costs over three times as much as the stereo did.

I haven’t put a CD in any of my cars in the last 15 years. They all had CD players, but music from iPod or phone replaced cds long time ago

But you could buy a better one from the internet as well.
Had a crappy Tokai in my A3 when i bought it, replaced it with a used basic Pioneer (or maybe Kenwood) that does B luetooth and the sound is miles better .
A friend also had a similar first price that did have the volume knob not working correctly after like 1 year and a terrible ergonomy , i would definitely have recommended to put a little more money to have a better product but it will do the job without paying much .

Also 95% of aftermarket head units are ugly as hell and impossible to use with their crowded displays and pencil-tip sized buttons.

Well if you drove...
Take the Island Queen and bike from Falmouth! That’s only $30! Sure you’ll be cycling for six hours, but it’s nice out! Enjoy living in a vacation community!
Or I guess you could take the Hyannis ferry, but that’s like $73 with a bike, which is a bit steep, though a much shorter ride.
Or you know, order online...

Let us know how it holds up....I’ve noticed reception seems to be worse in my car than I remember and I am wondering if my factory
head unit is on the way out. Aux In still works perfectly, which is what I use most of the time, but sometimes it’s nice to still have radio and I’ve pondered Bluetooth for awhile...

Bluetooth is wonderful. What’s your car? You can buy kits for some that add bluetooth to the stock head unit and let you use the existing steering wheel controls

That doesn’t look bad, I'm curious to see how this holds up. I will be on the hunt for a head unit for the 240 at some point and I want something low key, and this might fit the bill.
What Id really like is the new Blaupunkt Bremmen, but at $500 it ’s 1/3 the price of the car!

HAHAHA, steering wheel controls :P
It’s a base-trim 2009 Hyundai Accent....I don’t even have ABS, power anything, Cruise, A/C or any of that stuff, so definitely don’t have steering wheel controls....though higher trims did! :P
I still think I’ll replace the head unit....the one in my brother’s car had died a few years ago and I got a used one at the salvage yard for $20. I’ll prob go the same route.

I’ve read that Boss Audio tends to be hit or miss, but this unit was decently well reviewed. The only recurring complaint I saw was that the screen is too dim, which I actually like because nothing is worse than an aftermarket stereo that lights up the car like a disco.

Ah uh, nvm. Good luck on the radio install

Agreed, I hate bright and/or blinky lights. Ill check out Boss. Another one I was looking at was branded by Continental, but Id also seen if under another brand that I can't remember.

I saw a few Continental branded ones that looked nice but they were all $100+ https://www.ebay.com/itm/Continental-RADIO-USB-MP3-WMA-BLUETOOTH-12V-Boat-TR7412UB-OR/143217361305?epid=9023709469&hash=item21586b8199:g:zRQAAOSwa5RdvCWp

Thats the one I was looking at. The thing for me is Im trying to maintain that 80s vibe on the inside, or barring that at least keep it simple . The Continental isn’t perfect, but I could live with it.

While searching I also found this one which is cheap and looks almost stock but it has no bluetooth https://www.ebay.com/itm/Pyle-Marine-Stereo-Headunit-Receiver-12v-Single-DIN-Digital-Boat-Radio-PLMR87WB/274452481308?hash=item3fe6a4851c:g:kvcAAOSwOFNfLaEz

Picked up something similar but slightly less classy a couple of years back for the farm ute...so far it continues to function just fine. Way cheaper though...

Jesus that’s like $16 USD . I wouldn’t spend that little on headphones.

Under the circumstances...neither would I. However, it continues to provide the same basic functions as the AU$300 Alpine head unit in the ‘ daily driver’...if not quite the same functionality. Sound quality is good enough too... especially for the coin.
